The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street

By Karina Yan Glaser

Summary: The Vanderbeekers are a family full of laughter, pets, and noise. When their reclusive, grumpy landlord decides not to renew their lease, the Vanderbeekers are devastated. They can’t imagine leaving the only home they’ve ever known. So the five kids decide to convince their landlord to let them stay. But, they only have eleven days to do it.

My Review: I absolutely loved this book! It’s funny and happy, but there is still sadness and the plot keeps you on the edge of your seat. The big family dynamic is awesome, and you will fall in love with the Vanderbeekers from the moment you begin reading their story.

My Takeaway: This book is about a large family trying to save their home, and their love towards their prickly landlord. Parents might want to be aware that there are mentions of death and sadness.

Romance: Very Light, a boy wants to take a girl to homecoming.
